MacNut Week 12

Technically, this is what's going on this week:
  • MacNut is the size of a lime - ~2.13 inches and 0.49 ounces.
  • The feet are almost half an inch (1cm) long.
  • The fetus starts moving spontaneously.
  • The face is beginning to look like a baby's face.
  • The pancreas is functioning and producing insulin.
  • Fingernails and toenails appear.
  • The baby can suck his/her thumb, and get hiccups.
Physical:
  • Weight: 121 lb (-5)
  • Belly circumference: 31.25 in (+.75)
  • No more vomiting!  The nausea is almost all gone, too.  My appetite has not recovered fully but at least I know I can eat and keep food down :)
Spiritual & emotional:
  • The fact that I'm not feeling so physically miserable anymore makes me SO sublimely happy!
  • We have been looking for a place to rent and it's a little frustrating that we haven't found anything yet, though.  :-/

MacNut Week 11

Technically, this is what's going on this week:
  • MacNut is the size of a fig - ~1.61 inches and 0.25 ounces.
  • The crown-to-rump length of your developing child is 1.75 to 2.4 inches. The weight of the fetus is approximately 8 grams at this point. The growth of your baby is phenomenal now and your baby's length will double in the next three weeks. The head is grossly out of proportion and is almost half of the baby's length.
Physical:
  • Weight: 120 lb (-6)
  • Belly circumference: 31.00 in (+.50)
  • "The turn" has occurred...I think.  I am starting to feel better this week & have not vomited at all!  I am also gaining back some weight!
Spiritual & emotional:
  • This is the first quarter that I have been this behind on homework.  As of last week, I was three weeks behind on turning in assignments for one class.  Thankfully, all of my professors have been so understanding.  I turned in a couple weeks' worth of homework so I'm only one week behind.  Not great...but at least I feel better for being able to catch up :)

MacNut Week 10

MacNut is officially a fetus this week! :)  We are telling a few more people this week...although with the help of some not-so-tight-lipped family members & friends, a lot of people already know.  Hahahaha!  It doesn't matter to us, actually.  We want the whole world to know!

Technically, this is what's going on this week:
  • MacNut is the size of a kumquat - ~1.22 inches and 0.14 ounces.
  • This week marks the end of the embryonic stage of development. For the rest of your pregnancy, your baby will be known as a fetus. Your baby's external genitalia begin to form this week while her facial features as well as limbs become more apparent. By the end of the week, your baby's vital organs will not only be formed but will also have begun to work.
Physical:
  • Weight: 118 lb (-8)
  • Belly circumference: 30.75 in (+.25)
  • Only threw up 4 times this week (v21, v22, v23, v24).
  • Feeling about the same, really, just gagging a little less.
Spiritual & emotional:
  • Missed both days of work this week and feeling pretty down on myself again.

MacNut Week 9

I had the privilege of helping out Marcia & Ryan with their wedding at the beginning of this week.  I was pretty exhausted the day before and immediately after the wedding...but, by the grace of God, I was a Little-engine-that-could while taking care of the wedding details that day!  So happy for you guys, Ryan & Marcia!

Technically, this is what's going on this week:
  • MacNut is the size of a grape - ~0.90 inches and 0.07 ounces.
  • By pregnancy week 9, your baby is between 22 and 30 mm long (that's about an inch), or about the size of a large grape. Your baby weighs less than one ounce at this point, but will soon start putting on weight dramatically as you continue your pregnancy week by week.
  • Your baby is growing like crazy during pregnancy week 9. By now, most of the aspects of your baby's physical structure, such as head, arms, legs, and torso are in place.
  • Because your baby's organs and limbs are forming, in the next few weeks, your baby will be putting on weight. Your baby's tail should have disappeared by now, and your baby's organs and muscles should be functioning on their own.
  • At 9 weeks pregnant, your baby's eyelids will fuse shut and won't open up again until your baby is about 27 weeks along. Your baby's face is becoming more distinct every day, with the mouth, nose and nostrils becoming clearly visible. By nine weeks, your little one will even have developed sex organs, however, your healthcare provider won't be able to discern them quite yet.
  • Your baby's heart should have divided into four separate chambers now.
Physical:
  • Weight: 120 lb (-6)
  • Belly circumference: 30.50 in (+0)
  • Vomit count: v14, v15, v16, v17, v18, v19, v20.  Pretty busy week!
Spiritual & emotional:
  • I continue to feel like a non-contributing member of society.  I just feel rotten all the time and I feel bad that I am not able to do as much as before :(
